Dance of our God

‘May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all: 2 Corinthians 13:14 [NIV] Love the Lord your God with your whole heart, love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got! Deuteronomy 6: 4 – 5 ’
[The MESSAGE]

Verse 1
There’s a dance that all creation
Is invited to join
Where the Father, Son and Spirit
Interact and combine
It’s a dance where everyone can
Contribute to the whole
In the Spirit through the Saviour
To the Father

Verse 2
With our minds and with our heart and strength
Yes – all we can bring
We are welcomed and included
In the dance of the King
What astonishing salvation
That has come to our aid
In the Spirit, through the Saviour
To the Father

Chorus
La la la – la la la la la
la la la – la la la la la [repeat!]
This is the dance full of glorious diversity
This is the dance of our God

Verse 3
In the Spirit, with the Saviour
We will worship you God
Looking through your eyes of mercy
To the world that you love
And the dance that takes us into your
Compassion and grace
Will return us to the mission of the Father

Verse 4
Join the worldwide celebration with
Our God, Three in One
For this dance of liberation is
For all who will come
And the wonder of this moment
Is that we now belong
In the Spirit, through the Saviour
To the Father

Chorus
La la la – la la la la la
la la la – la la la la la [repeat!]
This is the dance full of glorious diversity
This is the dance of our God

Final Chorus
La la la – la la la la la
La la la – la la la la la [repeat!]
This is the dance full of glorious diversity
This is the dance in the Mystery of the Trinity
This is the dance of our God

I attended a songwriting week in September 2003 and when I left at the end of the week I wrote across the top of my notes ‘my songs are rubbish!’

It wasn’t only about being daunted and scared silly with the privilege and responsibility of ‘putting words into people mouths’ but it was also about trying to take the indescribable truths of God and frame them into songs!

hmmm… ‘Dance of our God’ is one such attempt!

I so appreciate the fact that this dance is not just about me and God – but about a worshipping community
